Pulmonary Puzzles

This station is designed to interest students in new frontiers in the study of the lungs and respiration. Chronic Lung Disease is the third most common cause of death in the U.S. Students use a model simulating the operation of the diaphragm and its control of the lung. They learn that asthma is a condition that occurs when we exhale and that smoking E-cigarettes can lead to “popcorn lung”. Using a respirometer students measure their lung capacity and learn how air to understand air quality reports.
