HealthLitNow (HLN) was formed to promote community based “Public Health Literacy” programs designed to enhance both short-term and long-term healthcare outcomes for K-12 students, their families, and the community at large in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties, California consistent with the “National Action Plan to Improve Health Literacy”. Public Health Literacy is defined here “as the degree to which individuals and groups can obtain, process, understand, evaluate, and act upon information needed to make personal and public health decisions that benefit the community”. HLN has adopted a mission to enhance Public Health Literacy by engaging a broad alliance of community participants and offering technical and non- technical Health Literacy programs with a specific reach into area schools. EXPLORE HCC reflects the mission of HLN developing workshops and related materials available to all throughout our community, the State of California and throughout the US.
